Design problem
A terrace restaurant with an upper level, where the character of the place had to carry from the street to the bar.
Key decision
Build the identity on one material, speckled terrazzo, with black marble, warm timber and green edges in support.
Solution
A restaurant that reads as one composition from the street to the bar, where natural textures and carefully placed light invite guests to stay.

Spatial plan
Tables, parasols and planters are set out on one grid; the stair to the upper level runs along the wall and leaves the terrace open.
Exterior
Material
The same speckled surface wraps the facade, the stair and the bar front.
Interior
Bespoke detail
The bar is one composition: black steel shelving, backlit bottles, a ribbed counter front and brass-framed stools.
Details
Light
Light is built into the architecture: step lights on the stair, wall lights washing the terrazzo, and only candlelight on the tables.
