Design problem
A cliff above the sea on Mallorca's north-west coast, among pines and old olive trees, with the Tramuntana mountains behind.
Key decision
Three low wings stepping down the cliff, each a heavy stone base under a thin cantilevered roof.
Solution
Golden limestone is laid dry, the way the island's terraces are built; the trees are kept, and a long infinity pool runs to the edge of the cliff.
Concept project: a design study by our office, not a built project. The images are visualisations.

Material
Dry-laid limestone from the island, travertine decks and timber soffits.
Interior
Proportion
In the rooms the stone wall comes inside and the timber soffit becomes the ceiling, framing the sea.
